B52s star in Day on the Green

23 Nov, 2009 05:59 PM
More than 10,000 people headed to Sirromet Winery at Mount Cotton to see the B52s, the Proclaimers and Mental As Anything at A Day on the Green music festival on Sunday afternoon.

The Mentals warmed a sold-out crowd, already sweltering in 30 degree-plus heat, with hits like The Nips Are Getting Bigger and If You Leave Me, Can I Come Too, before the Proclaimers belted out I'm Gonna Be (500 Miles) and I'm On My Way, which was a massive hit in Australia in the '80s but didn't receive widespread success until it was used on the Shrek film soundtrack in 2001.

Headliners the B52s had the crowd on its feet with All Around The World and Love Shack before their encore Rock Lobster closed the festival.
