 Hey baby, welcome to Redlands

Hey baby, welcome to Redlands

09 Feb, 2012 12:00 AM
POLITICIANS and babies do go together, if the turnout at Capalaba Park Shopping Centre last weekend was anything to go by.

Capalaba MP Michael Choi hosted a Welcoming the Babies event at the shopping centre to greet many of the the Redland's newest and smallest residents to the community .

"There's been some lovely feedback from parents who enjoyed the morning's outing," Mr Choi said.

"Being a new parent can be daunting. It's good to know that other people are facing similar challenges."

Representati ves were on hand from Queensland Health, Redland Bayside Child and Family Support Hub, Capalaba Community Centre and Skilling Solutions to provide information and support to parents.

The event was sponsored by The Redland Times and Bayside Bulletin and Capalaba Park Shopping Centre.

It was a lovely event, it was so hard to stop smiling. What a great idea - hope it continues.

Joy I agree. It was a well organised event. Well done RT, BB and Capalaba Shopping Centre Management and MP Michael Choi.

Having three babies of my own (albeit they are all over 1.5m tall now) I know how hard mums work and the sacrifice they have to make, including their career, their time and not to mention the toll on their bodies.

(Fathers work hard too but usually not to the same extent, well at least we don’t have stretch marks!).

This event was to welcome babies but also to acknowledge the parents and grandparents in our community.

I love this African saying, ‘It takes a village to bring up a child’ and we must all be an active participant of this village we call Redland.
