Nick Clarke is not just a high flyer because he's one of the newest faces in the Redland City Council management team.
The former Brisbane City Council and EPA employee is flying a two-seater plane to 36 Queensland councils over the next two weeks to raise money for the Make a Wish foundation.
Mr Clarke is a member of the Local Government Managers Association, which is running the 'wishflight' around Queensland for the first time this year.
He will be flying a Jabiru aircraft, which he first learned to fly as an air cadet at age 17.
He took off from Caboolture on Monday, September 7 and will land at Dunwich on Tuesday, September 22, before completing the trip at Caboolture the next day.
As well as raising money in each local council visited, the mission will be environmentally conservative, using only as much fuel as the average four cylinder car and putting restrictions on the amount of baggage the pilots can take.
The flight is aiming to raise $50,000 over the 5200km trip and donations to the foundation can be made at www.wishflight.co m.au
