At the recent prefects' investiture at Ormiston College, 13 Year 12 students pledged their loyalty and commitment to the wellbeing and service of their school community.
The event was staged at senior assembly in front of staff, parents and special guest Federal Member for Bowman Andrew Laming, who presented the prefects with their badges of office.
As part of her address, college captain Jessica Peters said a capable and enthusiastic team of prefects had been put in place to lead the school in key areas of the college's ethos.
"We are confident that this student executive will represent you with dignity and pride and will work diligently to foster the features of the Year 12 mission statement," she said.
"Already within the college environment we witness a massive amount of spirit, which we intend to develop and expand throughout the 2012 college year."
College co-captain, Aaron Barker-Smith, then gave an address in which he posed the question: what does it mean to be a student at Ormiston College?
"Firstly, it means that you commit to the college and face the challenges and the opportunities you are offered every day at school," he said
He went on to mention the importance of being a united community, of leading by example, showing support and encouragement and of having pride in one's school.
