Phone if you spot a koala

Phone if you spot a koala

22 Oct, 2007 04:45 PM
THE Redlands’ annual Koala Phone-in Survey is on again this weekend, Saturday and Sunday, October 27 and 28.

(Dates published in The Redland Times on Friday were incorrect due to wrong information provided).

If you see or hear a koala this weekend, phone 3820 1103 between 8am and 5pm.

Callers will be asked a few questions including the koala’s exact location, health status (no signs of dirty wet bottom) and sex (males have a dark vertical stain on their chest and juveniles are about football size).

Residents are encouraged to help make the survey a success by searching trees in their own yards, local parks, schools and reserves, all of which form a critical part of the koala’s territory or home range.

The Koala Action Group is also looking for volunteers to assist with answering phones and entering data over the weekend.

If you can help out for a couple of hours, phone Debbie on 3823 5575.
