Redland City Council mowing teams are back in action this morning following last week’s heavy rains.
The council has temporarily closed some tracks and trails for repairs after the rains made some unsafe.
Native Dog Wetlands, German Church Road Conservation Area and Days Road Conservation Area in Redland Bay are closed.
Council officers are still assessing the condition tracks and trails in the Greater Glider Conservation Area, Capalaba and Coolnwynpin Conservation Area.
Repairs are expected to take between two and four weeks depending on weather.
Signs advising of the temporary closures are outside the parks.
Council’s Facebook page and website will notify residents of any additional closures and the reopening of areas.
Mayor Melva Hobson said during the rains council officers managed road closures, erected signs and bollards and continually reassessed rising and receding flood waters over roads.
“Primarily we communicated these frequent changes through regular updates to Council’s website and Facebook,” Cr Hobson said.
“I would like to thank all the people who called in, and sent facebook messages, about trouble spots. It helped us respond to changing conditions so much faster.
“Council officers started repairs and maintenance as soon as the heavy rain subsided, filling approximately 300 potholes in local roads on Australia Day alone,” Cr Hobson said.
