Redlands is in mourning again with another young life lost in an horrific road accident.
For emergency service crews which responded to the fatality at Hanover Drive, Alexandra Hills, it was a day of high emotion.
Wynnum District Inspector Peter Harding said the Forensic Crash Unit had stayed on the scene for hours trying to determine how the crash happened.
"I was so annoyed at the waste of a young life. What I want is people to use common sense when driving a motor vehicle, have respect for yourself, your passengers and other road users," Inspector Harding said.
"It's one of those things that should not have happened and the driver will have to live with this for the rest of his life."
Officer in Charge of the Cleveland Ambulance Station, Jamie Smith, was also at the scene of the crash soon after it happened.
"No matter how long you have been in the job, you can't prepare for the scene of a fatal car crash," Mr Smith said.
"It's a tragedy and always a shame when you see a life lost in these incidents. The message we want to get out there is to take care and be diligent while using the road."
A report is being prepared for the coroner, however initial police reports suggest speed may have been a factor in the accident.
The 17-year-old male driver of the car and another male, also 17, were taken to Redland Hospital with minor injuries. Two boys, aged 13 and 14, were taken to Mater Children's Hospital; one suffering serious head injuries and the other suffering minor injuries. A 14-year-old girl was taken to Princess Alexandra Hospital with minor injuries.
