A HAPPY girl who was compassionate towards everyone she knew - that's how friends will remember Maddisyn Stephen who died this week in a shocking road accident at Alexandra Hills .
The 14-year-old Alexandra Hills High School student was killed when a car carrying six teenagers rolled and crashed into a tree on Hanover Drive on Tuesday afternoon. Five others in the car, the eldest 17, were taken to hospital.
On Wednesday, Maddie's school friends gathered at the scene of the fatality. Holding hands, some crying, they placed flowers at the site, comforting each other and saying prayers for Maddie.
Her Year 8 school friends, Adam McDonnell and Shanelle Lema, said Maddie had been one of their best friends.
"I knew her from school and from the second we started being friends, we were the very best of friends. She was always happy. We love you," Adam said.
Shanelle and Maddie were at primary and high school together.
"She was the happiest person I've ever met and I liked having fun with her. She was never embarrassed to do anything," Shanelle said.
Kiri-ana Rapana said Maddie had been a good person to get to know.
"She was always happy, joyful and she was always there for me and I was for her. When it was hard to get through things she was the one I could lean on. I loved her so much and I will never forget her," Kiri-ana said.
