Water meter readers in Redland

07 Feb, 2012 09:35 AM
Allconnex Water is reading water meters across Redland this month.

Water use tracked in this month’s meter readings will appear on the water and wastewater accounts which will be sent out in April.

The water retailer also wants customers to check for water leaks over summer.

Allconnex Water CEO Andrew Foley said customers should check for leaks while they were out gardening over summer.

“It’s a good time to check for areas where water may have pooled on the ground signifying a water leak,” Mr Foley said.

“Monitoring readings from your water meter is another way customers can check for leaks.

“Water leaks in your property’s plumbing may lead to increased costs on your water account.

“Customers may be eligible for a concealed leak remission if the leak was repaired by a licensed plumber,” Mr Foley said.

For details about tracking water use, concealed leak remissions and how to check for leaks, visit allconnex.com.au.

Customers can contact Allconnex Water’s Customer Contact Centre on 1300 WATER (1300 000 928).

Is it too cynical to say to Mr Foley, thanks for that advice on water leaks, that pooled water, it was invaluable.

Can the contactor who performs this task on behalf of Allconnex come back and replace the lip on the numbers window on my metre. He broke it off last time so he didnt have to lift the lip. Poor form.

Another tip is to make sure all your taps are off and see if the meter is still ticking over. If it looks like it isn't then wait an hour and go back and check again and see if the litre amount has increased.

And Hugh, they beak them off so they can read them quicker. What a great design fault putting them on there in the first place.
