Resident stories, the petition to council and more information on the community application to run camping grounds on Straddie is all available online at http://stradbroke people.org

A public meeting last night at Wellington Point had more than 40 mainland residents attend.

Quandamooka Elder Aunty Joan Hendriks discussed issues surrounding the management of North Stradbroke Island caravan parks as well as taking questions about the islanders' current fight to retain management of the parks.

Redland City Council has currently paused the tender process for external operators applying to run the parks.

For more information on the wider campaign, go to http://stradbroke people.org

If you want a bit of a laugh go to this site. You cannot help but be impressed by its unbiased poll.

What a joke.

If this is the best that these organisations can put together then they do not deserve to run a chook raffle.

Just how unprofessional does this look.

I beg the council to give the contract to someone with the skills to run a camping ground.

Back to the poll??? Surely all applicants will be governed by the same enviromental laws. This whole thing by the Stradbroke community just looks shabby and cheap.

I would imagine a quality operator not a group of 'keen at the moment, well intentioned locals' is required to run these camps in a competant manner to encourage the tourists to keep returning.

Hey Burdened, the residents dont want anyone visiting THEIR Island.

So I don't know why they would want to be in control of the campsite.
