Their levies have gone up by 30.6 per cent, from $1530.88 per marina berth and per standard lot to $2000 each.

The canal levies for residents of Raby Bay have gone up 18 per cent, from $1500 for a standard lot to $1770; from $765 per unit to $902.70; and from $675 per marina berth to $796.50.

And residents of the Sovereign Waters Lake Estate in Wellington Point have seen an eight per cent increase in their Lake Levy, from $882.75 per lot to $953.90.

Aquatic Paradise resident George Harris told the council's general meeting last month that residents were outraged at the prospect of increased levies.

"The levies have been rapidly escalating and are now exorbitant," he said.

"I've been involved heavily with rates modelling and the formulation of differential rates in Redland City Council... and these costs are hitting everyday residents.

"These increasing costs will affect ordinary workers, pensioners, self-funded retirees. It's not a 'wealth tax', there should be protection from these fees for the most vulnerable."
