BENJAMIN Seymour, 14, of Thornlands, has returned from the All Schools and Youth Championships in Tasmania with two outstanding performances in 800m and 400m track events.
The Year 9 student at Victoria Point State High School was named the school's Athlete of the Year for cross country, and won the 100, 400m, 800m and 1500m events to qualify for the Metropolitan East team, where he was named Age District Champion.
He also qualified for the Queensland team, which took him to Hobart at the beginning of December.
He missed out on gold in the 800m by 0.01 of a second, running a personal best of 2.00.76 minutes in a photo finish, and placed 6th in the 400m.
Benjamin will restart training in January for the national championships in Sydney, and thanks his parents and grandparents for their support and financial help in getting to Hobart as well as the P&C Committee at Victoria Point State High School which helped finance his athletics uniform.
