REDLANDS Tigers teams are working hard in all grades to take the points against bayside rivals Wynnum Manly.
Grades one, three and five are playing at Wynnum while grades two, four and six are enjoying playing on their home grounds.
First grade let the game slip away from them last weekend as the Wynnum Manly lower order batsmen settled in and scored some much needed runs.
Pick of the bowlers for Redlands were Matt Turich 4/83 and Matt Lunn 3/42.
At stumps on day one the Tigers were 3/60 and will be relying on their middle order to score some much needed runs.
Second grade also let the game slip away from them as they had Wynnum on the ropes.
With skipper Brendan Smith taking 4/31 (and breaking another record for the most number of wickets in second grade) and spinner Saber Syed taking 2/68 the Tigers held Wynnum to 198.
However at stumps Redlands were in trouble at 6/34 and have a lot of work to do this Saturday
Third grade were also in trouble but thanks to a super innings from youngster Marshall Gagen 84 not out, Adrian Wight 43 and skipper Cam Miers 43 the Tigers were 6/233 at the end of the day.
Fourth grade scored 222 thanks to another fine knock from Doug Philip 54 and David Turich 44.
A great last wicket partnership of 78 from Doug and Len Watts 36 certainly helped to make the score look promising.
The Tigers bowlers have a lot of work to do this Saturday as Wynnum were looking very solid as they put on 37 runs without losing a wicket on day one.
Fifth grade scored 169 with skipper Matt Williamson scoring 36 and Jon Denning 54.
They had Wynnum 2/25 at stumps with the experienced Scott Butters leading the way with 1/0.
He is looking forward to a big day this Saturday.
Sixth grade scored 167 at home on number three oval thanks to a patient innings of 77 from skipper Rob Carrigan (must have been all the mid-week coaching from his son Mitch!).
Wynnum were 1/78 at stumps and the young Tigers will have to bowl well to dismiss Wynnum for a low score.
Tigers second grade women's team almost caused the upset of the round against a very strong Western Suburbs.
Unfortunately the Tigers fell 14 runs short but they are improving their skills with each game.
