NORTH Stradbroke Island's Lincoln Taylor and Tim Macdonald took out the pairs event at the Straddie Assault surfing competition on Sunday, October 25 and were rewarded with one year's bragging rights and $1200.

The boys made it two in a row for the Point Lookout team, with ASP world number five ranked surfer Bede Durbidge and Macdonald taking the pairs last year.

Straddie Assault organiser, Dale McDonald, said the the event had been very successful.

"The headland was lined with spectators, the same amount of people as every other year, it's nice to see the event is still quite popular," Dale said.

"Surf legend Russell Specht said he couldn't remember the last time the waves were as small as they were on Saturday though and they were smaller than other years."

Point Lookout came 6th in the Team Challenge with 23 points.

First place went to Northshore with 26 points, then Snapper Rocks, Noosa, Cabarita and Kirra placed 5th.
