THE Redlands College volleyball team had outstanding success at the Junior Volleyball Schools Cup over the weekend, achieving bronze in Division 2 after their wins against five other schools.
Redlands College played host to part of the largest Schools Volleyball event in Queensland, with more than 65 schools from all over Queensland playing in the tournament across three divisions.
The Redlands team of Year 9 boys won the first two sets of each game, claiming victory against St Pauls School, St Josephs Gregory Terrace, Ormiston College, Holland Park State High School and Toowoomba State High School.
The team lost its sixth game on Sunday morning but managed to pull through and win bronze following its defeat of Tin Can Bay, much to the excitement of the supporters in the stands.
The Redlands College teams were given some motivation when they had the opportunity of training with the National Women's Volleyball coach, Amanda Fielding, who paid a visit to the college during the September school holidays.
Amanda's skills program had such an impact that the Year 10 girls team from Redlands College played in the Honours division, placing 7th overall in Queensland.
