Promote business opportunities

RE Mr Larkman's letter (April 24), in which he challenges my statement that Redland commercial rates are among the lowest in the area: Well, yes, they are in fact the lowest of Brisbane, Logan and Ipswich.

This is why we should be selling the advantages of moving business to the Redlands not giving the impression that it would be expensive to move here. A business shift from Logan could reduce rates by about two thirds, a shift from Brisbane, by half.

Cleveland does need to have a boost. Its charming, almost European small town style, centre has great potential attraction. Sadly, it has been eclipsed more by the huge and successful development of Victoria Point, allowed by previous councils, which gave no thought to the impacts this development would have on other centres.

This council has initiatives in hand to regenerate not only Cleveland but Toondah, Weinam Creek and Capalaba.

There is ample development potential here already.
