Bombers beat Roos

A DOMINANT performance from fullback Craig Rusby propelled the Bombers to a comfortable 34 point victory over Robina.

With no fewer than seven forced changes from last week's winning side, it was difficult to predict how the Bombers would perform. However any fears of a poor showing were quickly dispelled, as Alex Hills took control of the match.

The Bombers flew out of the blocks. Robina were held scoreless in the first quarter while swirling winds played havoc with the Bombers' goal kicking as they finished with one goal five behinds for the first term.

The second term saw the Bombers extend their lead. Ferocious tackling and attack on the football drove the Bombers to a 27 point break, having kept Robina to just one goal in a half of footy.

Coach Graham Henwood demanded his troops go on with the job in the third and they responded with their best quarter of the match.

Campbell and Joseph lead the charge and kicked a goal apiece in the third, while down the other end Rusby had kept the competition's leading goal kicker scoreless.

Final score: Alexandra Hills 11.16-82 def. Robina 7.6-48.

This weekend the Bombers travel to take on Aspley.

Bombers Reserves beat Robina s 7.13-55 to7.8-50, while the U18s defeated Jimboomba 15.13-103 to 8.9-58.
