Reunion for Cleveland High's class of 1979

ARE you in this picture? If you are, Cleveland District State High past pupil Neville Gourley wants to hear from you.

Neville is organising a reunion for the Class of 1979 and said this year was a good year to hold the event "so all in the Class of 79 could celebrate turning the big 50 together".

"In November 1979, about 100 seniors from Cleveland District State High School finished school and went into the big, wide world - the results of which are unknown," he said.

"To fill in the gaps, the class of 1979 is holding a combined high school reunion and a birthday party to mark everyone in the year's 50th birthday.

"Anyone in this picture should come and catch up with their classmates, remember the days of your carefree youth, relive past glories and stories and let your hair down and party.

"Some have scattered to different countries, some to different states and some are still in the Redlands, but it doesn't matter, we want to track everyone down," he said.

Already, 34 classmates had been contacted but there were still about another 100 people to be invited.

Neville also invited those who left in years 11 or 10, those who did not go on to finish Senior in 1979, and all of the teachers.

The cost of the night will be between $20 and $25 a person, with finger food and a big cake. Drinks can be bought at the bar but dancing to 70s music will be free.

The reunion will be at the Redlands Touch Football Clubhouse, Cleveland Showgrounds, on June 23, from 6pm to11.30pm.
