Police step up traffic patrols for long weekend

PLAN ahead if you are venturing out on the road this long weekend.

Officer in Charge of Wynnum District Traffic Branch Senior Sergeant Neale Stoneley said police would be increasing their presenceon the roads over the Queen's Birthday weekend.

"Motorists need to plan their trip well ahead and take a break every two hours," Snr Sgt Stoneley said. "We want to reduce the possibility of fatalities as much as we can."

He said police would also be conducting "plenty of RBTs" during State Of Origin night on Wednesday, June 13.

"We'll be keeping everyone honest," he said.
