Redlands Camera Club

REDLANDS Camera Club's next meeting is in the Uniting Church hall, 35 Marlborough Road, Wellington Point on Monday, August 6 at 7.30pm with the judging of the club competition on the subject of 'People.'

Entry is $3 including supper. Monday, August 20 at 7.30pm is the second in the Master Series Presentations for the year with nature and wildlife photographer Michael Snedic. Entry of $15 includes supper.

Restoration society

THE South Coast Restoration Society Inc., presents the annual Vintage and Crafts Rally at Heritage Park, 193 Rifle Range Road, Pimpama (exit 49-M1 Motorway) on Saturday and Sunday, July 28 and 29, from 9am-3pm. It will feature arts and crafts, steam and stationary engines, trucks, cars, bus rides, Guanaba Country Music Club, food and drinks and free parking. Admission is adults $10, children under 13 free.

THE Russell Island Community Arts is holding an arts and photography exhibition at the Bowls Club from Friday, July 27 to Sunday, July 29. All members, parents and guests are invited to attend a morning tea at 11am on Friday, July 27, when Cr Mark Edwards will present honorary member badges to two founding members. There will be a stunning display of photography from the children courtesy of organiser Tony C. from B.I.C.S.

Wildlife Preservation Society

THE Wildlife Preservation Society of Queensland, Bayside Branch meets at Redlands IndigiScapes Centre, Runnymede Road, Capalaba on Friday, July 27 at 7.30pm. The guest speaker will be Yvonne Webb, who will introduce us to Slow Food and the Rhythm of Life. Slow Food is a global, grassroots organisation connecting the pleasure of food that is good, clean and fair with a commitment to their community and environment. Band to join street parade

Redlands Sporting Club Pipe Band will be part of the street parade at the Morningside Fair on Sunday, July 29. Come and hear the pipes and drums and talk to the band members afterwards about learning drums, or bagpipes. The band performs at community events like this one and can also be booked for other events. Keep Sunday, September 23 free for the Spring Equinox celebration at Whepstead House. THE multicultural group, WeR1, has been meeting for seven years at the Redlands Community Centre in Capalaba. Coochie Art Group

GREY skies did not daunt us on Tuesday as we travelled by ferry to Coochie Island to meet Annie Jamieson, our tutor. Her theme for the day was to teach us about tone, composition and colour. By using small boxes, torches, and still life figures we discovered the importance of shadow, subtle and dramatic, the use of linear and the challenge of being creative rather than being illustrative. Ukulele's rock

UKULELE players attended a great workshop at the Redlands Bluegrass Festival last weekend at Kindilan in Redland Bay, then performed their piece to an enthusiastic audience of hundreds, to open the festival's Saturday night concert. If you would like to join this fun group with your uke and best singing voice, it meets on the fourth Thursday of the month at the Capalaba Sports Club, Ney Road, Capalaba from 7 - 9pm. Cost is $5. Market day bargains

THE Redland Bay Uniting Church market day will be held on Saturday, July 28 from 8am-11am.

Come and join us at the shed in the Redland Bay Uniting Church grounds, Gordon Road, Redland Bay.

There will be lots of plants, home-made cakes, biscuits, slices, jams and chutneys for sale. Browse through the books and records for sale and grab a bargain from the white elephant stall. There will be sausages sizzling on the barbecue. Tea and coffee will be available.

Aphasia Coffee Group 

HAVE you had a stroke or brain injury? Maybe you have aphasia?

If you feel isolated due to difficulty speaking, writing, understanding etc. why not come along to the monthly Aphasia Coffee Group mornings and join like-minded people in a relaxing environment. We meet at Harvest Coffee Shop (outside Aldi and opposite the Victoria Point Library) in High Street on the second Wednesday of each month.

Go walking at Wellington Point!

THE Wello Wanderers group meets at 5.30am at Tanya's Caf , corner of Main Road and Oceanic Street, Wellington Point and walks for an hour (5- 6km) every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning.

Enjoy a variety of different walks in the local area with this friendly group.

Car boot market

CAPALABA Uniting Church will hold a car boot market on Saturday, August 11 from 7am to 11am.

Stalls will include cakes, clothes, household items, books and plants. A sausage sizzle and morning teas will also be available. Sites cost $10 and include a table. Phone 3824 4204 to book a space. Buyers and browsers are very welcome.

Ferrari Concours at Ormiston House  

DUE to inclement weather, the Ferrari Concours at Ormiston House will now take place on Sunday, July 29.

Heritage listed Ormiston House will be open to visitors on Sunday, July 29 from 10.30 to 4pm. The entry fee of $5/$1 includes an inspection of the House and a wander through the grounds. There will be a display of Ferrari cars on the lawn from 11am-2 pm.

Redlands Ladies Drum Corps

THE Redland Ladies Drum Corps welcomes women of all ages interested in trying something new.

Learning to play a marching drum may be easier than you think. No prior musical experience is required. Cathy, Peggy, and Samantha can teach you using a simple phonic method.

For those who may not be able to carry a drum there is still a place for you as a marcher. We practise Wednesday nights at 7pm, in the car park at Toondah Harbour, Cleveland.
