Redland City Council will not renew the contract for its chief executive Gary Stevenson when it expires in six months.
Redland mayor Karen Williams made the announcement this morning.
Cr Williams said she believed “a fresh approach” was needed for the organisation and the decision had been “agreed to”.
“Recruitment will begin as soon as possible for a new chief executive officer to lead Redland City Council into a new era which will focus on efficient, streamlined operations, a culture of innovation and new approaches, and a customer focus mindset,” she said.
A date for Mr Stevenson’s departure is still being considered.
However, the council said Mr Stevenson would not depart before suitable interim leadership arrangements had been made to ensure the business of council proceeded as usual.
Cr Williams paid tribute to Mr Stevenson’s dedicated service and commitment to the work of Council over the past four years and wished him every success for the future
