Redland Performing Arts Centre was packed to capacity when home-grown opera diva Mirusia Louwerse took to the stage this week.
The glamorous Birkdale soprano, who rose to international stardom singing alongside violinist and conductor Andre Rieu, entertained the crowd of nearly 600 for two hours.
The concert launched her Home tour, which marked the singer’s return to Redlands after five years abroad with Rieu.
During the evening, she sang Home, a composition by local musician Kim Durant.
Mirusia also sang a rendition of Schubert’s Ave Maria before her finale, Forever Shine, a love song she wrote in 2010.
Last night’s concert was the first in a series of shows for Mirusia, who performs at the Brisbane Powerhouse on Saturday night before concerts in Sydney and Melbourne.
