THE Wynnum District police service has welcomed five new officers to its ranks.
Shane Hall, 35, and David Glendinning, 33, will join Cleveland police station, and Dan Elkins, 31, will join police at Capalaba. Travis Kloda, 25, will join Redland Bay police, and Wynnum station will welcome Kelly Ibbs, 24.
Constable Glendinning said he and his fellow officers had been prompted to join the service for a career change and were eager to work their way up the ranks.
"I was a cabinet maker by trade. Most of us were tradesmen and wanted to do something completely different," he said.
"There's a lot of potential."
All five new officers live within Wynnum Police District.
Const. Elkins said they were ready and excited to serve the community they know and love.
"It's an exciting job. Every day is going to be a different day; you never know what you're going to do," he said.
The five were among 91 new officers who graduated recently after a gruelling seven-month training course.
