TWO Victoria Point Rosevale Court Aged Care residents have 100 reasons to celebrate, with Estelle Mary Harper Cox and Mary Shedley reaching their century within two months of each other.
Estelle celebrated her milestone birthday on July 9 with family and friends, while Mary is counting down the days until her September 25 birthday.
Estelle's daughter, Stell Grimmett, said her mother had thoroughly enjoyed her day and was happy her grandchildren from north Queensland had joined celebrations.
"She had a lovely cake and really enjoyed reading through the letters sent from the Queen, Premier, Prime Minister and the Governor-General. It was really special," she said.
Stell said her mother, an only child, was born in Shorncliffe on Brisbane's north.
"Her mother lived until she was 101 too, so it must run in the family," Stell said.
Mary's daughter, Christine Moriarty, said her mother was eagerly looking forward to her birthday, with family from Adelaide making the trip north to celebrate.
"Mum's name is Edith but everyone's always called her Mary.
"She's in very good health and is looking forward to the big 100," she said.
