The next meeting for the society will be held on August 8 at the Donald Simpson Centre, Cleveland at 12.15pm. John Fowke, local author of Kundi Dan, will talk about his family history, which dates back to the Norman Conquest. Visitors welcome. A gold coin attendance fee applies. Redlands Floral Art Club
THE next Redlands Floral Art Club meeting will be held on Friday, August 10 in the Scout Hut, corner Gordon and Bainbridge streets, Ormiston, from 9.30am-12.30pm. Victoria Pt Garden Club
THE next club meeting will be held on Thursday, August 9, in the Victoria Point Uniting Church Hall, 13 Pt. O'Halloran Road, at 9.15am for morning tea. Redlands RSL Chess
From July 31 to September 4, the club will hold its Eugene Ross Memorial tournament with time controls of 75 minutes aside. Free chess lessons are available before tournament play. New chess players are needed so visit on a Tuesday from 7pm in the Downstairs Meeting Room at the Redlands RSL, Cleveland.

LOCAL composer Rachel Merton is holding auditions on Thursday, August 9, for a new community music ensemble. The ensemble will rehearse and workshop new music written by Rachel and will have the opportunity to feature in concerts and recordings. Rehearsals will be on Mondays from 7.30pm.
A keen interest in the composers' music (listen at www.rachelmerton.com) and the ability to read music fluently are essential.
