From July 31 to September 4, the club will hold its Eugene Ross Memorial tournament with time controls of 75 minutes aside. Free chess lessons are available before tournament play. LOCAL composer Rachel Merton is holding auditions on Thursday, August 9, for a new community music ensemble. The ensemble will rehearse and workshop new music written by Rachel and will have the opportunity to feature in concerts and recordings. Rehearsals will be on Mondays from 7.30pm.
A keen interest in the composers' music (listen at www.rachelmerton.com) and the ability to read music fluently are essential.
