THE Alex Hills Bombers ended six weeks of torment with a 36 point victory over fellow cellar dwellers Yeronga last weekend.
With finals football a distant memory, the Bombers were fighting to avoid the wooden spoon and gain some respect in their final home game of the year.
Ferocious tackling, quick ball movement and clinical finishing from Dakin and Burgess gave the Bombers a 21 point quarter time lead.
Momentum swung early in the second and a lacklustre Bombers allowed Yeronga to eclipse their lead.
However, in what was free flowing entertaining football, the Bombers regained the ascendency and entered the main break eight points up.
The Bombers were determined to finish strongly and they did just that, running over the top of their opponents for a well-deserved victory.
Burgess finished with nine goals and with one game remaining will take some catching in the league goal kicking.

The Reserves side suffered a heartbreaking one point loss.
