World Cup Cricket will be played in Redlands this month.
REDLAND Cricket is gearing up to host more Under 19 World Cup cricket at Birkdale Road, Wellington Point, on Tuesday.
This is a big coup for Redland and is in recognition of the club's wonderful facilities.
Although most of the action will be in North Queensland, Redlands will also host games.
RCI administrator Barry Cullen, canteen convener Bernadette Cullen and head curator John McFarlane worked for weeks preparing for the event.
Many hours of preparation went into planning the World Cup matches and the club is looking forward to hosting players from England, Pakistan, South Africa, India, Afghanistan and Namibia.
Unfortunately, Australia plays most of its games in Townsville.
Many club members were looking forward to seeing their own wicket keeper James Peirson perform on home turf.
Redlands City Mayor Karen Williams will present player of the day awards at the World Cup.

Tuesday, August 14: South Africa vs Namibia
Wednesday, August 15: Sri Lanka vs South Africa
The quarter finals will be played on Sunday, August 19, Monday, August 20 and Tuesday, August 21, with a semi final game on Thursday, August 23.
All games are one-day 50-over matches and are due to commence at 9.30am. Spectators are welcome.
