Redland Sinfonia Inc.
Join the Redland Sinfonia for an afternoon of delightful serenades and other beautiful chamber music performed in the Cleveland Baptist Church, 240 Bloomfield Street, Cleveland, on Saturday, September 15. The program will include Elgar's Serenade for Strings, Wind Serenade by R.Strauss and Arrival of the Queen of Sheba by Handel. Tickets are $20 for adults and concessions, and $10 for children under 12 and are available from Binary Music, 48 Bloomfield Street, Cleveland. Spectacular seniors concert
Redland City Concert Band will perform a spectacular selection of music to celebrate Senior's Week in the Redlands. They will be joined by guest performers the "Brisbane Mandolins" and In accord. Come along to the Seniors Week Concert on Sunday, August 26 at the Cleveland Assembly Hall, Smith Street Cleveland. Doors will open at 1pm. Entry is by gold coin donation, plus great raffles and lucky door prizes. There is plenty of parking and the venue is wheelchair friendly. Pipes and drums school
Come along to the Redlands Sporting Club on Thursday nights and find out about learning bagpipes, or drums. There are a number of young people learning pipes at the moment and the drum tutor, Cameron, from Accent Drumming at Cannon Hill, is there to teach young drummers and extend more experienced players.
The band plays at community events and private functions. Our big upcoming event is the Spring Equinox celebration at Whepstead House on Sunday, September 23. Keep this day free to see bands and pipers play and compete, dancing, food and all kinds of entertainment.
We are looking for donations for the huge raffle on the day and can repay you by perhaps sending a miniband to an event for you, or playing at your business to entertain and attract customers. For more information, phone Allan on 3822 8253

Waterloo Bay Lapidary Club
Come and see the fascinating world of lapidary, faceting and jewellery making, at the 45th Annual Gem Show on Saturday, September 1 from 9am to 3pm at Hemmant Community Hall, 31 Hemmant-Tingalpa Rd, Hemmant. Admission is $3, pensioners $2, under 12 free.
Traders and tailgaters will display precious and semi-precious gemstones, both rough and cut, opals, crystals, fossils, minerals, jewellery, beads and findings, lapidary supplies, tools and equipment and handicraft.
Club members will showcase their talent with a display of handmade jewellery, cabochons and collections. The club table will be covered with homemade jams and pickles and delicious cakes for sale. Refreshments will be available. A raffle of beautiful jewellery made by club members will be drawn at 2pm.

Heritage Bus Trip
EXPLORE the history and heritage of Ipswich. Join a fun bus trip on Thursday, August 23. Pick up is at the Cleveland Uniting Church hall in Passage Street at 8.00am, then travelling to Ipswich to pick up a local guide. This is an activity of the Cleveland Uniting Church. Bayside Harmony
the men of Bayside Harmony enjoyed participating in three sections of this year's choral competition at Redlands Eisteddfod. They were delighted to be awarded a first and two seconds pipped by the ladies of the wonderful Redlands Rhapsody chorus. The next competition for Bayside Harmony will be Singfest 2012 at Tweed Heads later this month.
The club is keen to increase its membership and further develop the truly awesome sound that is produced by a larger chorus. Any men, young or not so young, who enjoy singing, are invited to come along any Tuesday night to the Performing Arts Area at the Cleveland High School, Russell St from 7 pm.
